Zambian students exploring the Norwegian nature

The main objective for this course is to give an understanding of globalisation and north-south relations. It compares Norwegian and Zambian culture and society, focusing on eduation, health and social work.

Contents

Through practical and theoretical approach, Norwegian and forreign students should be able to understand north-south relations and the dialectics between local and global knowledge.Norwegian students will have a 3-month practical in Zambia, and Zambian students will have a 3-month practical in Norway. The theoretical part will be in Sogndal for all students.

The course consists of two units:

  • General and country specific theoretical global knowledge

    History, politics, economy, religion, culture, health, education, communication and gender, globalisation and local knowledge in Zambia and Norway, social science methodology and critical thinking.

  • Practice, research and project work

    Three months of practice, research and project work in Zambia and Norway respectively. Preparation, tutorial supervision and writing of the project work. Follow up and reflections related to practice, research and project work, including oral presentations.

  • Admission Requirements: To apply to this course you either need to be a current student at Sogn og Fjordane University College (SFUC) or a selected student from one of our partner institutions in Zambia.
