The course is taught through a combination of lectures, seminars, group and project work. All students will be assigned a supervisor to help and support you throughout the course.
The course is composed of three units:
You will be acquainted with the factors which influence international trade and international factor movements. You will be familiar with the most important trade policy instruments and their effects on national welfare and income distribution.
This unit will focus on behavioural concepts, learning about and applying research techniques and recent research findings to understand how consumers choose products, with an emphasis on evaluating such behavior in the tourism industry. Theories from psychology and sociology are also explored so that you will be able to identify consumer applications in a range of national and international settings.
The project paper is based on a topic from one or both of the units. You work on the project individually or in groups of two or three. While working on the project paper you will learn about different research methods and how to collect and analyse data. During the project you will have to collect empirical data, analyse your findings and draw conclusions.
