This course is offered to international students who are interested in learning about Norwegian language, culture and society.
The course consists of 3 units:
The module covers the historical development of the Norwegian welfare state. It discusses the family oriented politics in Norway before finally looking at the health politics.
Everyday Norwegian for International Students
Basic grammar and relevant vocabulary is covered, along with a brief review of typical phonetics considered challenging. A brief introduction to Norwegian culture and social history will also be given, mainly through a presentation of Norwegian literature and authors.
The Norwegian Economy and Entrepreneurship in an International Perspective
Central topics are basic macro economic theory, economic history of Norway, economic growth in general and economic growth in Norway, Norway as an oil exporting country and as an energy supplier, major innovations in Norwegian industries, the economic policy of Norway and innovation and entrepreneurship.
Students can choose to take the whole course or only individual units. It is also possible to combine units from this course with other courses that the University College offers.
Various working methods are being used, such as practical language training, individual written papers, lectures and group work. The students enjoy great independence, but are also followed up closely with supervision and evaluation during the semester.
