How to get to Sogndal and Førde

Sogndal is located near the Sognefjord and Førde is located near the Sunnfjord, both in the Western part of Norway.

From Oslo

Express buses leave from Oslo several times a day. The trip from Oslo to Sogndal/Førde takes approx. 7/9 hours. The airports in Sogndal and Førde provides for easy air access from Oslo several times a day. Tourists like to go by train from Oslo and down the famous Flåm Railway, ending up taking an express bus from Flåm to Sogndal.

From Bergen

Express buses leave from Bergen several times a day. The trip from Bergen to Sogndal/Førde takes approx. 5/4 hours.

From Bergen you may also take the express boat to Sogndal (approx. 5 hours). The airports in Sogndal and Førde provides for easy air access from Bergen several times a day.

Tourists like to go by train from Bergen and down the famous Flåm Railway, ending up taking an express bus from Flåm to Sogndal.

Time Tables

When travelling by plane, be aware of hand luggage regulations and luggage weight limits. Regulations to be found at Avinor.no.

You should bring the Letter of Admission with you when you arrive in Norway. It can be used to get student discount on buses and airplanes within Norway on your way to Sogndal/Førde.

Arrival and Registration

Upon arrival in Sogndal/Førde all international students will be met by a representative from the University College. Please inform the Student Welfare Organisation (SISOF) about the day and time of arrival.

The University College will advice all students on where and when to meet for registration at the respective campus.

Student Buddies

Student Buddies will act as guides for international students, showing you around the campus, giving you advice about campus life etc. The first week after arrival will be filled with social activities to get to know the other international students.
